PAMIĘTAJ!: In Polish, the PAST TENSE is divided into the PERFECTIVE and IMPERFECTIVE form. The IMPERFECTIVE form is often used the same way as the English PAST CONTINUOUS ("I was doing..."), while the PERFECTIVE form is often used in the same way as the English SIMPLE PAST ("I did...").


The following exercise will help you practice the perfective past tense in Polish. Fill in the blanks with the proper form of the verb (in parentheses). Use the "special character" buttons below as needed:

ex: I (m.) went to Warsaw. = Pojechałem do Warszawy. (pojechać)


1. I (m.) parked my car there. = tam samochód. (zaparkować)

2. I (m.) took her money. = jej pieniądze. (wziąć)

3. Did you (formal, plural, mixed) come at 8? = Czy państwo o 8? (przyjechać)

4. We (m.) told her about it. = jej o tym. (powiedzieć)

5. The dog ate the bone. = Pies kość. (zjeść)

6. You (formal, singular, m.) prepared a very good soup. = Pan bardzo dobra zupę. (przygotować)

7. She closed the door. = Ona drzwi. (zamknąć)

8. The cat ran away. = Kot . (uciec)

9. I (f.) lost my wallet. = swój portfel. (zgubić)

10. We (f.) lent her the motorbike. = jej motor. (pożyczyć)
